All items created by Hamilton Wood Artistry are handcrafted from natural hardwoods. Wood is a living material that naturally responds to changes in humidity, temperature, and sunlight. I am not liable for any natural warping, cracking, or wear that results from improper care, environmental exposure, or misuse after purchase. The buyer assumes all responsibility for the safe use, display, and maintenance of these unique items.
Food Safety and Intended Use Categories
Items designated for kitchen or dining use are finished using food-contact safe materials. However, the specific design, edge type, and finish determine how the piece should be used:
- Strictly Dry Foods Only: The following pieces are intended exclusively for dry items (such as nuts, crackers, or wrapped candies) and must never come into contact with moisture or wet foods:
- Specific Finishes: Any piece completed with General Finishes Wood Bowl Finish.
- Natural Characteristics: Bowls featuring natural knots, bark inclusions, or voids (even if the surfaces are sealed and coated).
- Edge Styles: All live-edge (bark on) and natural-edge (wavy barkless rim) bowls.
- Light Food Use: Turned bowls finished with natural oil-and-wax blends (such as cured Real Milk Paint Half and Half topped with Clapham’s Beeswax Salad Bowl Finish) can accommodate light, non-liquid food use.
- Universal Restrictions: No woodturned piece is safe for microwaves, dishwashers, hot liquids, or being submerged/soaked in water. Please refer to your specific care card for exact instructions to maintain the integrity of your piece.
